D&D Encounters Wednesday Nights starting March 17th
« on: February 20, 2010, 07:58:28 pm »
Each Wednesday Night we will be hosting D&D Encounters starting March 17th at 5:30pm sessions are 2 hours

What is D&D Encounters?
D&D Encounters is an in-store weekly mini-campaign played out one encounter per session, with sessions every Wednesday. Each week, you gain Renown Points for accomplishments made both in-game and out-of-game. Points earn you exclusive rewards that you can apply to your current and future D&D Encounters characters.
D&D Encounters seasons rotate every few months, giving you the opportunity to try new adventure settings multiple times per year!

What Do I Need to Play?
Each D&D Encounters season is a new mini-campaign experience. You can jump in anytime. Pre-generated characters are always available for play, and some seasons will give you the option to create your own character.

What Do I Need to DM?
If you are going to DM, your store organizer will have all the adventure materials you need to prepare to run the weekly sessions, including the adventure, maps, and tokens to represent the characters, monsters, and other game elements. Preparing for a game couldn’t be easier; simply read the background material and prep the encounter for that week!

What Kind of Rewards Do I Earn?
Players earn exclusive D&D Encounters cards that provide your character with in-game benefits that can be applied to your current season’s character and future seasons’ characters. DMs earn different valuable game aids as a thank you for running D&D Encounters sessions.

D&D Encounters: Undermountain
March 17 – June 2

Explore lost passages of the infamous Undermountain dungeon as you play through the mini-campaign Halaster’s Lost Apprentice! 1st-level characters are provided, or you may create a 1st-level character for play. As a special bonus this season, characters created are compatible with Living Forgotten Realms! Character creation rules for this season will be available by March 10 on the Official D&D Group page

The character creation rules for D&D Encounters happening Wednesday night are as follows....

Character Creation: You may create a 1st-level character in the standard method using any published Wizards of the Coast 4th Edition D&D® books, with the following restrictions. Races: You may only choose a race that has received a full write-up, such as presented in the Player’s Handbook series. Other Information: You cannot start play with magic items (consumables are OK, if you can afford them). You also might want to create a character that feels like it has a place in the FORGOTTEN REALMS®, to make it easy to draw your character into the adventure.

Thanks to everyone who made it down for DND Encounters! We had a great time!
We had 17 players and 3 DM's show up for the start of the season.
Looks like its going to be a very fun format! I will be posting pics of the event soon.
We had two players achieve Delvers awards!

We also ran a second session after the first for some late arrivals. We intend for the next session to start the first tables at 5:30 and a second session around 6:00pm to accomodate those that come later because of work restrictions etc.

Thanks again for making the start a success!

My girlfriend and I would really like to get into to D and D but know know quite where to start. Would it be acceptable for us to come next wednesday with limited knowledge but an eagerness to learn? If so what would we need to play? thanks

Yes, Wednesday would be a perfect time to come by and learn to play! D&D encounters are open to anyone. One of our staff would be happy to get you started. The games have been very fun and the people playing are very helpful.
You don't need to bring anything as we have pre generated characters and extra dice.
Hope to see you there!
