We actually wanted to start low on the first tournament since we have several new players and wanted to be sure we could include everyone as we build up the turnouts. Future tournaments will have higher points.
I really appreciate the comments any other suggestions are appreciated!

I like the 1,250 limit. It's at least different. I remember playing on 4x4 tables at one store when the standard was 1,700 and we were all cramped in. 1,250 will give us lots of room and also likely some quick, bloody games.

New to these boards I just stumbled across them but was wondering how the 40k is going at Paladin group of friends and I had gone to Gexp on a regular basis on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. That being closed down now we have no were else to go, we been playing each other with our own board but that getting pretty old. Need new heads to bash with my Boyz. Also is Sunday the day to play still if so Ill be heading over there to check it out with all my Dakka.

Group of friends armies
1: Space Wolves (HOW I HATE THEM SO) and Blood Angels soon upon release.
2: Orkz, Tua, and Chaos Marines
3: Imperial Guard
4: Witch Hunters (Nuns with Guns as I like to call them), Demons, Eldar
Me: Orkz  ^^>, and eventually either Wolves or Blood Angels

I was wondering how long the tournament was scheduled to go for? I mean  I know it depends largely on attendance, but I mean a general idea... I likely work on that day but would like to drop in after and spectate.

"how long is this going to take?"

Well....here goes :

With the blessing of a low point count, we should be able to get full 6 turn games completed in approximately 1.5 hours.

No one likes to field a great 2000 or 1850 ( my personal fav ) army, only to have it go 3 turns in 2 hours..... bad tourney, no donut !  :troll2

With that in mind, the format is going to greatly effect the total time as follows :

Single elimination 1.5 hour games with 12 players would take approximately 3 hours to get down to a pool of three semifinalists.

3?  We cant have three semifinalists- this tourney is HORRIBLE.... But wait, the fourth seat in the semifinals will be taken by a player selected by an independent ( non-playing in the tourney) panel of judges for best painted army NOT CURRENTLY IN THE SEMIS by merit.
Since GW no longer stipulates that all minis must be painted to play- this will give everyone a reason to paint to the max, for a shot at that golden ticket !

The semi final round would take 1.5 hours

Down to two now !

The final round would take 1.5 hours... This gives us about 6 hours of play time, with the addition of whatever time is required for schlepping your stuff from table to table between rounds, reloading your guns, and potty breaks.

If less than 12 show, we'll have to wing it.... if more than twelve show, we'll just expand in groups of two... this would not dramatically effect the time of completion.

May the best army rule the day !
 ^^>

Please, please, paint your crap- or it will always be just that- crap.
