DAMN you guys..  DAMN you all to heck and back..

You MADE me go and download the BB video game.. and now your MAKING me get a team becuase it looks like too much fun to pass on :P

hehe.  Seriously, this looks like a stomping good time.. So I will acquire a team and get it painted ASAP.

My only concern is WHO to play.  I like the goblins (cheating little gits), but they just cant do squat on the pitch (been playing them in the BB comp game).  I have been having fun with a wood elf team, but they dont reach out and sing to me (and I dont see one I like on ebay or any online stores).  I will decide and order when I get back home from being out of town this week.

Hahaha! We've hooked at least four people so far the same way.

Goblins were –really- bad in LRB5, but in Competition rules the ones we’ll be using, they improve quite a bit. Stunty was fixed a bit (you don’t take a +1 on the injury chart anymore, instead 7 is KO and 9 is Badly Hurt). One of the more important changes is the Pogoer not being a Secret Weapon, as well as the chainsaw and bombardier getting hands (used to be No Hands).

What hurts you is not having access to General skills (for Block, Tackle, and Fend), and Strength skills are on models that probably won’t be doing much leveling, or are tricky to field (the troll and the fanatic). You will have to be very good at “building” a character and hoping to get doubles to round him off.

Pros and Cons
Goblins can hold their own ok, but don’t expect to do extremely well in the league. I believe that’s the consensus so far. Their primary purpose is for fun. If you just want to have fun with the game, bring goblins. I’m doing a Goblin team next, because we all want a goblin team to play with and see on the pitch. I also find them very fun.

With Goblins you don’t have to stress out over one of your guys dying, not getting the right skill, etc. Goblins will always be dying, so who cares, they’re for fun! Hahaha!

Goblins secondary purpose in league play is to sandbag high TV teams. Basically they handicap high-end teams by killing off their good players. Goblins get the cheapest Bribe the Ref at 50,000, allowing you to foul more frequently. In league play a goblin team’s main purpose is to sabotage the good teams. I think that’s cool!

In the end go with the one you enjoy the most. I went with humans because I was learning the game, and wanted a middle of the road team. My favorite team is Dark Elves but unfortunately good fantasy football Dark Elf models are hard to come by. I hope to eventually put one together using fantasy witch elves, fantasy dark elf corsairs, and some WH40K Dark Eldar models.
All aboard the fanbus!

Also about the vampire team.  They look dead fun.  Whilst the vampires are some of the best stat models in the entire game, with the use of the competition rules the thralls they bring with them are pretty good too.  The vampires are fast, strong and agile, everything you want in a player.  The thralls come with block and are nearly impossible to knock out of the game.

The exception is the vampires, which will definitely take out some of your thralls during the game, after all the might need a quick snack, and no reason not to bring lunch with you.  As you kill off enemy players you should be able to fill your roster back  up too.  All undead teams have that little advantage, as well I believe as a nurgle team.

They team is really only lacking some dedicated units such as passers and throwers, which vampires excel at with a skill or two.

Keep a weather eye towards this thread, I'll be posting some pics of my nearly completed dwarf team.   Mostly bases need done and numbers added to shoulder pads.

I'll post them after dinner.

So My team is THE FORTY MINERS, also known as the 4T MINERS.

excellent shots first is my throwers and slayers with one.  Front and back.

The next is of my linebackers and my blitzers... the blitzers are the ones with the wings on the hemlets.

Well, I'm here am here again, back with some more pics (thumbnailed for your pleasure, and bandwith)  of my Dwarf blood bowl team the 40 Miners... or 4 T Miners.  Actually, I could use some help, how about we take a vote which is better.

I finished painting it thursday night.

The first here is the ref and the Blood Balls... lol  We look forward to this little guy, calling many-a-fowls, then getting killed by the crowd.

Next here, is the core line men.  I'd like to add a few more to bring the number up a bit for extra players incase someone dies.

Ah, yes, we are here to the special teams.  You can see McHammer there on the far right.  The winged helmets are my Blitzers, and the orange haired ones are my Slayers... Both work in about the same role.

Finally we come to the Throwers, First of is  Angus McLong  "Bomb" and Josef "joe" Mountainya

Its done.. Money spent.. Figures on the way.  I picked up a fairly basic Goblin Team on Ebay on Friday.  Now I just need to fill a few holes in my collection and I will be gtg.  Does anyone out there have any extra plastic goblins and\or trolls that I can trade or purchase?

I only have the goblins that came in the Skull Pass starter set.  I'll give you some for nothing but I don't know if they'll be any good for Blood Bowl.

Do you still have the troll that came with it?  I know that some of the accessories should fit well for a coaching staff.
